Sustainable Forests and Livelihoods (SUFAL) Project is a project of Bangladesh Forest Department (BFD) to improve organizational effectivene68ss, strengthen collaborative forest & protected areas management, increase access to alternative income-generating activates, and plant trees in Trees Outside Forests areas.

The SUFAL project is working to restore degraded forests and conserve biodiversity in three different Eco-system in Bangladesh. The project aims to enhance ecosystem services, create livelihood opportunities, and increase climate change resilience through sustainable forest management practices. The project is establishing new plantations and supporting forest-dependent communities in creating alternative income-generating activities. Private sector capacity building is also a part of the project. The project is being implemented over five years in 32 districts covering around 92.77 million people, with a goal of benefiting 10 million people from the poorest and most vulnerable forest-dependent and ethnic communities through conservation-focused alternative income-generating activities and value chain development.
