Gender Equality

Gender equality generally refers to equal status between men and women in rights, dignity, participation, decision-making, access, control, etc. Gender equality also refers to the equality of women and men in the above (rights, dignity, participation, decision-making, control) as we put weights on one side of the scales and goods on the other. In the existing social system, women are inferior to men in all respects, so it is very important to bring gender equality in society.

Gender equity

Gender equity is a process of reaching gender equality. Socially and by nature, some of the men and women are in a inferior state, such as socially women accept discrimination for food, clothing, education, medical etc. Similarly, women are lagging behind in participating, controlling and decision-making in any work. Naturally, there are different types of people living in society based on gender, pregnancy, age, physical disability, etc. Due to this gender diversity, the needs of different classes of people are different. So women are deprived of the opportunities they deserve. Therefore, gender equity is the taking special steps to meet the needs of any subordinate person or group of people in society.

The status and position of men and women

It is necessary to remove the existing inequalities to bridge the gap in the opportunities available to women and men. Generally, women are carried out the responsibility of family, household or household chores, nourishing children, prepare food, collect water and fuel. But women have less access to food, nutrition, education, healthcare, training and other facilities. They have less opportunity to earn money. The family endures the stress of a long Labor Day. Leisure and recreation opportunities are few. Men generally do not bear the responsibility of household related activities. They mainly work to earn money. There are more opportunities in the areas of food, nutrition, education, healthcare, skills, training, etc. Men enjoy more leisure and recreation opportunities than women.

As per the revised rules on social forestry, women’s participation in forest management committees has been ensured, and the number of women beneficiaries’ and also their involvement in various social forestry activities has increased. In addition, opportunities are being created for women to participate in labor market and income-generating activities by planting and distributing saplings of fruit, forest and other beneficial trees in the courtyard of the homestead.
