The World Bank’s consent to the Community Operations Manual (COM) developed for the implementation of collaborative forest management activities has been obtained and approved by the Ministry. Collaborative forest management programs are being implemented by involving 40,000 forest-dependent families following COM. It is to be noted that 41,000 forest dependent families will be involved in the approved RDPP. At present, six community mobilization officers are assisting in the implementation of NGO activities in consultation with the divisional forest officer. With the help of 07 NGOs, the selection of forest-based villages (FCV/VCF), selection of beneficiary families, baseline survey, formation of committees and sub-committees, opening of bank accounts have been completed. Currently, skill development training on alternative livelihoods is underway.
