Model Upazilla

Within the scope of the SUFAL Project, 5 vulnerable and impoverished upazilas in Bangladesh, such as Faridpur Sadar, Maheshkhali, Noakhali Sadar, Bhola Sadar, and Patuakhali Sadar, have been identified as model upazilas. With the assistance of skilled forestry workers, various initiatives have been taken in these areas based on the participation of local communities in the development and management of forest resources and the conservation and expansion of forests. In support of the SUFAL Project, 500,000 seedlings have been distributed these upazilas which is ultimately planted in homestead and various marginal land.  In addition, many local communities have been employed in the production of seedbeds, seedling preparation, transplanting, and planting, which has provided them with opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
