Sub-component 2.1 Institutionalizing collaborative forest management (CFM)

  • COM cleared by WB and MoEFCC and its printing contract is signed.
  • Bangla version of COM developed and send to MoEFCC.
  • 615 CFMCs formed under 15 Forest Divisions facilitated by 7 NGOs.
  • 615 CFMC has opened Bank Account.
  • Developing effective Integrated Collaborative Forest Management Plans (ICFMPs) for 3 (three) Forest Divisions: Chittagong North Forest Division, Dhaka Forest Division, Patuakhali Coastal Forest Division, and 1 Protected Area (PA): Madhutila Eco Park PA (Mymensingh) by CEGIS.
  • ToRs for NFI (Package 1) is cleared by WB on 28th May and waiting for single source justification clearance in STEP.
  • PMU issued a letter to FAO for VAT and IT clarification in contract. ToR for Forest Management Planning work (Package-2) is under negotiation for FMP preparation.
  • Single Source Justification for FAO contract for both the packages are submitted on 12th March 2023.
  • Conducted environmental and social safeguard monitoring of project activities.
  • 800 (female-361, male-439) community members completed safeguard training.
  • Provided gender training to 29 forest officers.
  • 54 Forest Officers have been offered training on environment and social safeguard in two batches.
  • 1000 tree species assessed by organizing 68 workshops by IUCN. 75 participants received training on Red List Assessment process by the IUCN Cambridge trainers.

  • Red listing completed after evaluation of 1,000 plants. The red book inaugurated by Hon’ble Adviser on 11 November 2024.

  • 17 invasive alien plant species have been identified in 5 protected areas (SRF-East WS, Kaptai NP, Madhupur NP, Himchari, NP, Rema-Kalenga WS) and accordingly 5 management plans have been prospered.
